Beyond the signs

The 12 rashis give you the broad strokes. The 27 nakshatras give you the fine detail. Each nakshatra is a small segment of the sky — about 13 degrees and 20 minutes of arc — and each carries its own mythology, ruling deity, and planetary lord.

Think of it this way: knowing your Moon is in Vrishchika (Scorpio) tells Auntie something. But knowing your Moon is in Anuradha nakshatra within Scorpio tells her something much more specific — about your temperament, your challenges, and the cosmic forces shaping your path.

Nakshatras are also the foundation of the dasha system. Your birth nakshatra determines which planetary period you were born into, and that sequence unfolds across your entire life. This is why Auntie considers nakshatras essential, not optional.

Why they matter in this app

Your birth chart reading includes your Moon nakshatra. Your compatibility report uses nakshatras for the Ashtakoot scoring system — the traditional 36-point compatibility method that compares your nakshatra with a partner's across eight dimensions.

Auntie does not treat nakshatras as trivia. They are the backbone of Vedic astrology's predictive power.
