Who we are
In this policy, "Auntie" ("we", "us", "our") means the Auntie mobile application and the auntieastrology.app website.
What we collect
When you use Auntie, we collect the following information to generate your personalized Vedic astrology readings:
- Email address (used for account authentication and sign-in codes)
- Date, time, and place of birth
- Your name (optional display name) and username
- Phone number (optional, used only for friend matching — see "Friends and contacts" below)
- Profile photo (optional)
- Conversations with Ask Auntie (your questions and her responses)
- Location (used to calculate accurate chart timings; requested only when you turn it on)
- Purchase records, purchased reports, and the birth-data snapshots used for those reports (so reports can be accurately re-displayed and purchases can survive reinstalls)
- Device information and app usage data
- Push notification tokens (if you enable notifications)
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers. Your birth chart is yours.
Friends and contacts
If you choose to find friends from your contacts, phone numbers from your address book are hashed on your device before being sent to us — we never receive or store raw contact phone numbers. The hashes are compared against hashed numbers of existing Auntie users to suggest matches, and are used for no other purpose.
When you connect with friends, we store those connections (who you are connected to, and any relationship label you choose) to power shared features like compatibility readings.
When you purchase a compatibility reading, we store the relevant birth-data snapshot available for both people at the time of purchase with the generated report. This lets us re-display the report accurately and prevents a later profile change from silently changing an earlier purchased reading.
If you run a compatibility reading for someone who is not on Auntie, the birth details you enter for them are stored with your account solely to generate and re-display that reading. Please only enter information you are comfortable providing.
How we use it
Your birth data is used to calculate your Vedic birth chart, generate daily readings, and personalize premium reports you purchase. Usage data helps us improve the app experience.
When you use Ask Auntie or generate a report, your questions and relevant chart data are sent to our AI providers to generate responses. They process this data under their API data usage policies. Your data is never used to train AI models. Your Ask Auntie conversation history is stored so Auntie can reference previous conversations and provide deeper, more personalized guidance over time.
If you upload a profile photo, it is stored securely and used only for display within your account.
Website features
Some features on our website collect information separately from the app:
- Waitlist and newsletter sign-ups — your email address, used to send you the updates you asked for. Newsletter delivery is handled by Substack.
- The Dare — the email address and birth details you enter are used to generate a one-time reading with a voice message (synthesized via ElevenLabs), and to follow up about Auntie.
Data storage
Your account data, birth chart information, purchased reports, report birth-data snapshots, and purchase records are stored securely in a Supabase database (hosted on AWS) using industry-standard encryption. We also use Upstash Redis to cache some readings for performance. Cached data is not used for any other purpose. Your account-linked information is retained for as long as you have an active account.
Deleting your account
Deleting or uninstalling Auntie from your phone removes the app and its local data, but does not delete your Auntie account or the information stored with that account. "Reset App" also only clears data on that device and keeps your account. If you sign in again with the same account, your account data and eligible purchases may be restored.
To permanently delete your Auntie account, use You → Delete Account in the app. We remove account-linked personal data from our database within 30 days, including your profile, friends, saved report content, credits, and Auntie purchase-ownership records. Anonymized, aggregated usage data may be retained for analytics purposes.
Payment providers such as Apple and RevenueCat may independently retain transaction records where required for purchase restoration, fraud prevention, accounting, or legal obligations. If you later create a new account using the same app-store account, an eligible non-consumable purchase may be restored without another charge. Restoring a purchase does not restore personal details or report content deleted with your former Auntie account; any new report is generated using information provided to the new account.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate Auntie:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage
- OpenAI — AI provider for reports and Ask Auntie responses
- Anthropic — AI provider for daily readings (no personal data)
- Google Cloud — astronomical chart calculations
- Vercel — website hosting and serverless functions
- Upstash — Redis caching
- RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management
- Resend — transactional email delivery (sign-in codes)
- Expo — push notification delivery
- ElevenLabs — voice synthesis for website voice messages
- Substack — newsletter delivery
- Apple / Google — app distribution and payments
Each of these services has their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.
Age restrictions
Auntie is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to update inaccurate information
- Deletion — delete your account in the app (You → Delete Account), or ask us to delete your data
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format
- Opt out — withdraw consent for non-essential data processing

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We honor all applicable data protection laws.
Cookies
The Auntie website uses minimal cookies for essential functionality only. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics on the website.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of Auntie after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
