In Vedic astrology, your rashi is the zodiac sign the Moon occupied at the moment you were born. It is not the same as your Western sun sign — it is often one sign back, because of the difference between the sidereal and tropical zodiacs.

Your rashi shapes your emotional nature, your instincts, and how you process the world. Auntie reads your daily horoscope based on your rashi, because it reflects who you actually are when nobody is watching.

Each rashi belongs to one of four elements — Fire, Earth, Air, or Water — and is ruled by a specific planet. These connections matter. A Fire sign ruled by Mars behaves very differently from a Fire sign ruled by the Sun.
